Inspiring Lives after Sight Loss plus AGM
October 22 @ 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Come along and join us for our AGM where our theme this year is “Inspiring lives after sight loss.”
Here from Tony Giles and Mike Brace – two very inspirational speakers about how they overcame their sight loss to travel the world and compete in the Paralympics.
“Seeing the world my way”
BBC Travel Show star, Tony Giles is a blind traveller and author. He has had Cone Dystrophy and Photo Phobia since birth. To date, Tony has visited 122 countries and in mid February 2008 he crossed the Arctic Circle by boat off the coast of Norway!
“Challenging perceptions of disability”
Paralympian, Mike Brace – who was also on the Board of the London 2012 Olympics – was born in Hackney in 1950. Mike was blinded aged ten, by a firework concealed in a bottle. But that hasn’t stopped him!
After a light lunch, our AGM proceedings will start but guests do not have to stay for that part if they would prefer to leave after the talks and lunch.
